"Let us come alive to the splendor that is all around us and see the beauty in ordinary things" --Thomas MertonA MosaicIn the book Come Follow Me a challenging invitation is extended to all students attending Immaculate Heart Middle School. For each of us this call includes looking at the life, family, friends, actions, and decisions of Jesus and other Holy Leaders. Through stories from Scripture and other texts as well as events transpiring in our world today, realize that all people journey on different paths up the same mountain searching for purpose, peace and happiness. All religions share in the teaching that it is important to respect life and help one another on the path to become gentle, understanding and forgiving individuals. During this school year through reading, writing, discussion, reflections, interaction and service projects among others, interwoven and strengthened with times of prayer, we will each endeavor to make this world a better and more loving place.
Heed the words of the young poet Maddie Stepanek who shared his insights and actions loving God and building peace during his short life.
"Stop, be silent and notice...
In so many ways, we are the same.
Our differences are unique treasures.
We have, we are, a mosaic of gifts
To nurture, to offer, to accept.
We need to be.
Just be."
